Bagel Shop

$125Ka year in phone orders

A bagel shop got 12 hours a week back and took $125K in phone orders with an AI bot

About 9,500 phone orders a year and 12 hours a week back, by the numbers from Maple, the company that sells the tool.

The business

East Norwich Bagels (East Norwich, Long Island, New York)

A bagel shop on Oyster Bay Road that sells bagels, breakfast sandwiches and catering trays.

The problem

Phone orders at a bagel shop are small and they never stop: a sandwich and a coffee, a dozen bagels, a tray for the office. During the breakfast rush, every call pulls someone away from the counter.

The bot or tool

Maple

An AI phone agent. It answers the phone, takes pickup and delivery orders, and sends each one into the shop's Clover register like any other order.

It's in our list: Maple

How they set it up

  1. They set up Maple in July 2026.
  2. Rule 1: payment stays at the counter. ("I'm only taking in-store payments.")
  3. Rule 2: big orders and orders for a later day go to a person.
  4. They placed a test order: a bacon, egg and cheese with a coffee. The bot said 30 minutes, so they changed it to 10, because a breakfast sandwich doesn't take 30.

The result

Hours saved
About 12 hours a week (Maple's numbers)
Money made or saved
About $125,000 a year in phone orders (sales, not profit; Maple's numbers)
